Sarah Nelson

 

Sarah is a recent graduate and Fulbright award winner who is focused on acquiring real world consulting experience before embarking on a PhD in Economics


Sarah joined HoustonKemp from the University of Auckland, where she studied economics and physics. She has a keen interest in merging these two fields into energy sector analysis, and will commence a PhD researching the environmental and economic impacts of solar generation later this year.

Before joining our team in November 2016, Sarah completed an internship at the New Zealand Treasury, where she looked closely at issues of efficiency in the national unemployment scheme. Her work contributed to a full-scale review of Work and Income programmes in New Zealand. During her time at the University of Auckland, Sarah was involved in research into the economic impacts of recent oil price collapses on oil-dependent countries.

Sarah holds a Bachelor of Commerce and a Bachelor of Science from the University of Auckland. In 2016, Sarah was awarded a Fulbright Science and Innovation Award and an Undergraduate Women in Science Award, as well as being a finalist for a Rhodes Scholarship.
